I normally prefer a plain background in my photo but this crazy-looking roll cake, I felt, required a matching craziness. What is going on here? I cannot decode the baker’s intention. Is this a failed attempt at creating something beautiful? Or, was s/he trying to use up leftover parts from other cakes? Or, is he trying to visually mimic something I’ve never seen? Or, did he go avant-garde? Or, did he have to give his kids something to do over the summer break?

Whatever the reason is, it got my attention. In the end, what matters is the taste, and it was good
