Food for Thought

Grass Mochi with Dried & Shredded White Radish. Another random purchase in the Fuzhou part of Manhattan Chinatown. I had no idea what’s in it. Swipe to see the inside. I was surprised to see radish inside as I’ve never seen radish used in desserts. I’m familiar with the mochi part. In Japan, it’s called Kusa-Mochi. The color comes from mixing mugwort which can be found everywhere even in NYC.

According to Wikipedia, this type of mochi is made only in Taiwan and Fujian Province, which explains why my Taiwanese friend @urbanfarmer1 knew what it was and was sold in the Fuzhou town
