Free Soup. Many Chinese fast food restaurants, I noticed, give you a complimentary cup of soup with the meal. Because it doesn’t say it comes with free soup on their menus (at least it does not say so in English), it feels nice every time I get one. It’s as if they are telling me soup is a must for the optimal experience. Given that these restaurants are inexpensive, it feels even nicer. And, of course, in the winter time, it’s doubly heartwarming.

This particular soup was savory yet sweet and tangy. I think this thing I found in it is a whole date. I really enjoyed it and paired well with their pork chop over rice
