Food for Thought

Tomorrow is Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. I assume that’s when they eat the mooncakes (although I’ve already eaten the ones I bought this year). The Japanese version of this festival is called “tsukimi” which translates literally to “moon viewing.” You typically serve dangos (sweet rice balls) piled in the shape of a pyramid. The skewered version is one of the emojis. Many people around the world must have wondered what this ???? emoji is.

Pictured above are the dangos I made this morning. Green dangos are usually made with mugwort but since I didn’t have it and I happen to have frozen pandan, I used the latter. Since I discovered pandan this year, and because I’ve noticed many new products made with pandan this year, I feel it’s appropriate
