DBN 19K683  •  insideschools.org  •  School Finder  •  2017 School Performance Dashboard
Overview Paragraph

We offer a challenging academic curriculum that emphasizes classical literature, academic writing, technology, and self-expression through the performing arts. Our students have the opportunity to master all aspects of performing arts production, including acting, public speaking, stage production, costume design, set design, lighting, production management, and marketing. SMART Boards and student laptops are used in daily instruction. The bi-weekly advisory/college readiness program allows students to work collaboratively and develop strong communication skills. Students attend classes in our fully equipped, state-of-the-art science, and computer labs, which they can also access after school.

Prgram Description
  • Acting: Students engage in portraying complex characters, scene work, monologues, and improvisation. Dance: Gain introduction to the language of dance, develop improvisational skills and basic choreographic devices, and learn the history and technique of major dance forms. Both of these studies culminate in performances that prepare students for college auditions and contribute to their portfolios.
  • Students gain artistic confidence by engaging in and learning about technical theater, stagecraft, designing and creating scenery, costume design, lighting, make-up, special effects, and basic drafting skills. Students actively participate in preparing the schoolÂ’s main stage productions.
