The idea of having a goal or a purpose in life is quite comforting to our minds. When our existence is defined by our thoughts, this becomes necessary because the system of thought is based on cause and effect. Every effect must have a cause; so our minds are habitually seeking a cause for every effect. Our minds must seek a cause for our existence. Everything must be connected with “because”. We exist because... We live because... We enjoy life because... These are just habitual thoughts. We are so attached to using our thoughts to comfort ourselves that we can’t stop asking these questions.
