Living a Life Expected of You

Living a life others expect of you, means you pursue what others find responsible, respectable, meaningful, or even cool. A lot of people try to be a rock star not because music is their passion, but because the idea of rock star is cool and has cultural cachet. They are not living for themselves but for the respect of others, which is just as bad as someone who works as a banker only because he gives into the social expectation of a responsible father. If you can live free from respect and expectations of others, you may be called a loser by others but you are in fact the winner. The others realize it only when death comes knocking on their doors.
