Dana Del Rey is equivalent to Campbell Soup in Warhol’s work; it is a product/work created by the people behind her. Maybe it’s her father? Dana Del Rey herself is just an empty signifier. There is nothing interesting about her. It would be interesting as an artwork if we analyzed her creator as an artist. That is where the “authenticity” could lie with Dana Del Rey as an artwork.
