Food for Thought

Guided Tour of Portuguese Flavors in NYC. You are seeing what we might see in the future at Joey Bats Café. Chef Isabel is too talented to be confined to pastéis de nata. For my wife’s birthday, we asked her to give us a guided tour of Portuguese flavors and these are what she cooked up. Quite amazing. Here are exactly what we had:

. Presunto, queijo e Chouriça

. Carapau frito acompanhado com salada de feijão frade

. Figados de Galinha

. Polvo com espergado de grelos

. Arroz de Polvo

. Costelas de Porco e batas assadas

. Bacalhau e batata frita

. Bolo de Bolacha

y favorite was the octopus—my god, the best octopus ever. The rice made from the octupus broth was amazing too. As a birthday cake, she made bolo de bolacha which is like Portuguese tiramisu—drooling now as I think about it.

really hope she would be able to serve these on a regular basis
