Food for Thought

Perhaps because my father-in-law is Polish and I’ve had countless meals at Polish diners in the 90’s East Village, I feel like Polish food is my second home cuisine. Or, maybe that’s how Polish food makes everyone feel. Minimum pretentiousness, maximum flavor. No matter where it’s from, it always looks home-cooked. Upon taking the first bite, the flavor radiates beyond my mouth—It’s as if I can detect the love part of the expression, “cooked with love.” In my adventure to Ridgewood, I came across this Polish deli. I had to go in. I got a platter of pierogis, stuffed cabbage, bigos, and the big gnocchi-like things. They were all delicious. I wish this store was in my neighborhood!
