Parents who talk about “sacrifices” they make for their kids will inevitably complain about their kids not calling or visiting them enough when they finally are independent, although they should now be happy that they no longer need to sacrifice anything. It’s a no-win situation for the kids; their parents are unhappy whether they are around or not. This is because these parents don’t know how to look at themselves in a mirror and see the true source of their unhappiness.
